Component Molecular Technologies

The component of new molecular technologies aims to apply advanced technologies to study, at genetic and functional levels, relationships between potato and Phytophthora infestans, the pathogen causing late blight. Through a thorough study of the variants in the genome of Colombian yellow potato and analysis of differential production of chemical defense, we aim to find the factors of resistance against this devastating disease. We hope to have an impact on knowledge about the diversity of the potato in southern Colombia.
