Component Education - ECAS

In order to address nutritional deficiencies, this component develops an agricultural extension program to introduce good agricultural practices in farming systems and introduce new potato cultivars, reducing production costs and reducing environmental impacts. The Farmer Field School is a business-minded process, based on participatory research.

 

The breeding area seeks to develop diploid potato genotypes with higher yield, better nutritional quality, resistance to P. infestans and various processing options, as an important alternative to improve economic stability and the daily diet of the native communities and smallholder Nariño.
